SCCS helps to ease the financial burden by providing financial assistance, in cash or in-kind, to needy families of children with cancer, for a minimum of 6 months. Besides helping the family to access financial assistance from SCCS, the caseworker will also link the family to other relevant resources available in the community.Recipients of financial assistance are expected to demonstrate prudence and responsibility in managing their financial resources.
As the main treatment centre for childhood cancer in Sarawak is in Kuching, SCCS encourages patients to complete treatment and continue follow-ups by providing a transportation subsidy.
SCCS sponsors medical consumables, aids and donate medical equipment not provided by government hospitals in Sarawak. This includes some medications, blood filters and central venous lines. The society also assists with providing need-base medical subsidies for important medical treatments to children who otherwise would not be able to afford them.
Incentives are provided to fighters and survivors, to recognise their academic abilities and motivate them to strive for academic excellence.
