In Sarawak, one child is diagnosed with cancer every five days.
Every year in September, we celebrate Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM) to increase awareness, raise support and funding to progress the agenda of childhood cancer. This month, join us in breaking the stigma associated with childhood cancer while raising awareness of the challenges and issues that childhood cancer patients, families and survivors face.
DID YOU KNOW?
The Gold Ribbon is the international awareness symbol to showcase support and generate solidarity for children affected with cancer.
In 2023, SCCS’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is centered around the theme “Breaking Barriers, Chasing Dreams“.
In growing awareness of childhood cancer, it is essential to break the stigma, myths and misconceptions surrounding it. Children diagnosed with cancer face physical, emotional, and social challenges. Breaking the stigma means empowering these little cancer fighters to lead fulfilling lives despite their diagnosis. Encouraging them to pursue their dreams sends a powerful message that their illness does not define them.
This year, we invite you to empower little brave warriors to set long-term goals and chase their dreams. You can express your support and generate solidarity to spread the words about childhood cancer by sharing your very own #SCCSGoldenDream.
Be it dreaming for a future where hope is a reality for all, or dreaming for a world free from the stigma of cancer, share your dreams and inspire childhood cancer patients, their families and survivors to embrace life’s opportunities. Together, we can shift the narrative around childhood cancer from one of pity to one of strength and resilience.
