Hanna was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma at the age of 11 after the family discovered that there was a tumour growing in her head. When they first found out about this news, they were in disbelief because they thought it was just a normal fever.
Early this year, she had her initial treatment and surgery to remove the tumor in Miri before flying to Kuching for further treatment at Sarawak General Hospital. It wasn’t easy to accept in the beginning because they never thought that a child like Hanna could have cancer. Little that they knew that SCCS was there to assist them in this journey when they arrived at Ward 2A.
The support by SCCS received during this period of time helped her mother (caretaker) to fully concentrate on taking care of Hanna. Hanna on the other end, she was a very strong fighter, seldom complaint about the pain; And the best part was she met new friends at the ward; keeping her fighting spirit alive as she missed her school friends back at home.
3 long months later, she is back in Miri to continue her treatment in Hospital Miri. Wishing her the best in her recovery!
