Yes, Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society is an NGO under sub-section 44 (6) of Income Tax Act 1967. All cash donations are tax deductible (applicable only to donations made within Malaysia).
Please note that we have a certain level of administrative cost that needs to be maintained (postage, notification systems etc), as such we require at least RM10 should you wish to claim for tax-exemption.
For donations of RM20,000 and above in a single receipt or accumulated in a calendar year, we are required to declare to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.
We regret to inform that, we are unable to process a change of name of e-receipt (with the exception for spelling errors or number errors for NRIC based on the e-form submitted to us during when making this donation) as this would generate a duplicate amount in the e-receipt system.
For future amendments to details for receipt issuance, please kindly email us with your Name and IC within 2 days after making a donation, as we would be able to make these amendments prior to receipts being issued.
The Inland Revenue Board (IRB, or commonly known as LHDN, Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri) has recently issued the revised Guidelines for Approval of Director General of Inland Revenue under Subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act dated 15 May 2019 (“Revised Guidelines”). The Revised Guidelines supersede the previous Guidelines dated April 2005 (“Previous Guidelines”).

Based on the Revised Guidelines, the individual donor is required to provide complete information of the following details in order to obtain an official tax exemption receipt from the organisation:
Should you wish for the receipt to be issued under company name, please provide the following details:
The Revised Guidelines also states that approved institutions or organisations cannot issue tax exemption receipts to donors who do not provide their complete personal information.
Our SCCS Superheroes volunteer family are a big group of like-minded individuals who are coming together to help make the journey of childhood cancer a little easier for our fighters, each in their own way. This is also a great opportunity for you to learn new skills or enhance existing ones, and make new friends in the process, all while giving your time, energy and passion to the great cause of helping kids fight cancer.
Even if you are located overseas, we still have an opportunity for you to contribute, through design work, data entry, research and many others. We’ll work together with you to see how best to do this.
Your organisation’s team can contribute to SCCS, depending on your interests and skills. You can choose from projects ranging from helping to clean the SCCS halfway home in Kuching, to organising a party for the kids. This is great for a team-building project as well as enhancing your company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Please fill in the volunteer sign-up form . Once you have signed-up, we will get in touch with you to find out where you fit best, according to your schedule, skills, and interests.
Consistent internship programs are not available, but depending on your needs and schedule, we can work with you to see how best to provide this. Contact us here with your enquiry.
Only volunteers aged 16 years old and above are allowed to sign up as volunteers. Volunteers below 16 years old will need written consent and supervision from their teacher or guardian during the volunteering.
Event volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of 2 shifts (a total of 6 hours) before being able to volunteer for the main day event. Once a volunteer has confirmed with a staff member on the date and time of volunteering, we do ask that no changes be made, with the exception of emergencies. Confirmation should be made a minimum of 24 hours before the actual volunteering work.
Yes, of course! After you fill in the Volunteer Form, we’ll work with you to see what activities would be the most suitable according to your interests and schedule. We do have ad hoc weekend volunteering slots available as well.
Depending on the task, you will be assigned to work individually or in teams. Nonetheless, each volunteer will be assigned a supervisor who is usually a World Vision staff who would be more than happy to guide you along.
Please dress decently when you are volunteering – as a volunteer, you are representing the Society! Dress comfortably and neatly with consideration towards the sensitivities of other people. We recommend t-shirt, long pants/jeans and comfortable, covered shoes. Please bring a jacket in case the air-conditioning is too cold for you.
For special public events, if necessary, we will provide you with the event-specific t-shirt.
You’ll be informed of the methods to sign up for volunteering, once we have received your application form, and contacted you. Depending on the location of the volunteering (hospital ward, centre, or public events), you will mutually agree with the SCCS staff in charge of your time and date of volunteering before confirmation. Please be realistic about the time you can commit for volunteering, and do be responsible and punctual for your volunteer duty.
We’ll provide you with the contact person’s name and number (SCCS staff or senior volunteer) in advance.
Please fill in the volunteer sign-up form . Once you have signed-up, we will get in touch with you to find out where you fit best, according to your schedule, skills, and interests.
Please talk to the relevant SCCS staff for advice and guidance.
There is a variety of administrative work at the office like answering calls, data entry etc whereas events might need you to speak to the public, assist in setting up and clearing exhibitions etc.
We’ll provide you with a Volunteer Log form that you can fill in after your session. Volunteers who provide 10 hours or more of volunteering each year will be emailed an e-Certificate of Volunteering (in January the following year). Should you need a hard copy, we can also provide it upon request. E-certificates can also be issued upon request.
Do bring a water bottle, and a jacket in case you get cold. You can also bring your mobile phone charger if needed.
For events, we’ll prepare an operating manual for you to conduct the roadshow, and also brief you if it is your first time. These will help you communicate knowledgeably about SCCS, its work, and the event to those who may be interested.
Please call your supervisor to notify him/her. If possible, please give your notification 2 days in advance. If you are slotted for more than one session, please re-confirm with your supervisor your availability for subsequent sessions.
Volunteers are responsible for their own transport to any volunteering location except where we specify otherwise. We will provide you location, time, date and venue in advance of your volunteering session. For any queries, please contact the SCCS staff in charge.
