Dear SCCS Family,
As 2025 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting not just on what we have achieved, but on how we have grown — as a society, as a community, and as a collective voice for children with cancer in Sarawak.
This year reminded us that progress is not always loud or dramatic. Sometimes, it is found in quieter moments: a family reassured that they are not alone, a child smiling during a long hospital stay, or volunteers showing up — again and again — simply because they care. These moments are the heart of SCCS, and they continue to guide everything we do.
This year, we funded more than RM2 million in medical aid to provide more than 100 children with access to better care, including specialised treatments and essential medications—care that significantly increases their chances of achieving remission and, ultimately, long-term survivorship.
This marks the highest medical expenditure in SCCS’s history, made possible by the support, trust, and generosity of our donors and partners. It reflects our steadfast commitment to our key priority: saving more young lives.
Throughout the year, our supporters rallied behind our mission in meaningful ways. Campaigns like GoBald 2025 that drew over 200 participants and raised RM675,000, challenged us to think bigger — not only about fundraising goals, but about the mark we leave on the lives of children facing cancer. Awareness efforts such as our first balloon maze in Bintulu which saw over 9,000 attendees and RM79,000 raised, as well as our Light It Up Gold campaign in Kuching helped keep childhood cancer visible, understood, and talked about — which is exactly where it needs to be.
What inspires me most is the strength of the families we serve. Their resilience in the face of uncertainty, their trust in our work, and their willingness to share their stories continue to shape SCCS into an organisation rooted in empathy and purpose. They remind us that support stems from dignity, compassion, and walking alongside someone during their most difficult days.
To our donors, partners, medical teams, and volunteers: thank you for believing in this mission. Whether you contributed financially, volunteered your time, shared our message, or simply showed up with kindness, your support helped sustain real, tangible care for children and families across Sarawak.
As we step into 2026, SCCS remains committed to growing responsibly, strengthening our programmes, and listening closely to the needs of the community we serve. There is still much to be done — but we move forward with confidence, knowing that this journey is shared.
Thank you for standing with SCCS this year. Your trust and compassion continue to make hope possible.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Mary Kiu
