This is Aisyah

Before her bone cancer diagnosis in August 2018, she was a happy, joyful child, filled with positive energy that would bring smiles to everyone who met her.

Along with her cancer treatments, her right leg from below the knee had to be removed in order to prevent cancer from spreading.

Aisyah stayed at the SCCS halfway home for the duration of her treatment.

During her year there, her family's financial burden was eased with the support of SCCS.

The halfway home also provided a safe space where her mother could focus on caring for her, and the activities to keep both patients and caregivers occupied helped Aisyah feel less sad about losing part of her leg.

She was soon back to her sunny and optimistic self again. Since her recovery, she has continued to thrive.

Her disability has not stopped her from doing activities like all the other children. Now equipped with a prosthetic, she has even learnt how to ride a bike!

Aisyah's recovery would not be possible without the kind contribution of the public.

The aid offered by SCCS to help childhood cancer patients and their families are funded through donations that mostly come from public funding.

With adequate support, the survival rate for children with cancer can be raised from 20% to up to 80%.
