In-ward Tuition & Activities for Patients Undergoing Treatment

School plays an important part in a child’s life. While being hospitalized and undergoing treatment, the patients could be away from school for a pro-longed period. One of SCCS’ mission is to encourage the patient to continue their studies and to support them by providing in-ward tuition so that they could go back to school with confidence.

Besides providing educational tuition, the tutor and volunteers also introduces various activities as a form of therapy for patients. Therapy plays an important role in the patient’s development. It provides a way for them to express their experiences, feelings and anxiety through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process.

A Breakthrough

Ula Anyie from Miri, 11 years old admitted since May 2011 with no education background. With the effort from the tutor and Ula’s determination, she was discharged from the Sarawak General Hospital finally knowing how to read and count.
